“I can’t say exactly why, but ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work in adoption—I just didn’t know how or why. A friend from my neighborhood and I used to play adoption agency with our dolls. I’ve always been a helper by nature.
After graduating from college, I spent a short time at a bank before crossing paths with someone from a foster care and adoption agency. That connection led me to a role at the same agency, where I eventually became a permanency supervisor. I worked closely with families, each with their own unique dynamic, and I loved it. Sometimes it took years for a family to find the courage to pick up the phone and begin the adoption process. It was powerful to see how adoption could transform their lives.
It’s been almost nine years since I came to Voce as a technical assistant, and two years since becoming a division manager. Guiding has been a part of every role I’ve held—whether supporting families through adoption, helping agencies deliver services, or leading a team of permanency professionals. Two members of my team are people I also supervised at the adoption agency where we all once worked. I joke with them that they’re stuck with me.
I love that my team members are all so different, yet equally passionate about permanency. Their personalities, backgrounds, and skill sets come together in a way that works. My role is to guide them and help them shine.
I’m also a wife and a mom of three. My team hears about my kids. They see that I’m a real person. I try to do the same for them. Life is life, and we’re all here to support each other and step in when it matters most.”
