Children Have Much to Tell Us

What if all systems worked seamlessly to respond to the varied needs of children and families and operated from core mutually understood principles of child development and trauma?

Voce’s Forum on Pennsylvania’s Children (FPaC) was born out of the need to increase systems collaboration and provide education so that children and families are served with greater expertise and efficiency. Too often various systems are siloed due to funding streams, regulations and an unintended constricted vision.

On December 5, 2024, Voce will host its 3rd annual forum. FPaC is a convening of systems and professionals who interface with children. Participants come from schools, faith-based organizations, the medical field, law enforcement, mental health service providers, child welfare, recreation councils and other social services programs.

Many choose to come each year as FPaC evolves. This year has a particular emphasis on youth voice. We realize the importance of learning from the lived experiences of youth and are pleased to provide participants with new opportunities for learning about engaging youth voice.

Children and youth have so much to tell us, and we are listening. Children who experience trauma tell us that a multidisciplinary-informed system of support is required to heal and address root causes and is vital to personal and community safety.

Understanding psychological trauma is key to effective service delivery for children and youth. Through the continued efforts of HEAL PA and other professionals, Pennsylvania continues to actualize our shared vision of a trauma-informed Commonwealth.

Psychological trauma is pervasive and contagious. Our growing understanding of trauma’s impact on the individual, community and larger society requires that our systems’ relationships are built on a firm understanding of trauma dynamics and responses to trauma. FPaC 2024 will provide participants with workshops to increase their understanding of trauma and what they can do to respond.

We are excited to offer many new workshops and opportunities to meet others from different systems. Registration is open for the 2024 Forum. Join us for a day of discovery and connection. We are better together.
